Mutts with Manners’ chief instructor, Maria Cunningham,
first started obedience training dogs at the tender age of 7 but resisted becoming a professional dog obedience trainer until 1993. In the interim her intense involvement in the training of horses in the 1980’s taught her the skills that are now considered ‘revolutionary’ in the dog training world – motivational training.
Her first professional role was as Assistant Trainer for the Sydney Community College in Leichhardt, running the group
dog training lessons in 1993. Through her ongoing study of
dogs, dog training methods, dog behaviour and various other professional’s methods, combined with the lessons taught to her by horses, Maria developed her own ‘Think Dog’ methodology. Humans are supposed to be the superior species after all so why shouldn’t we learn their language!
Forget the harsh methods and brutality. You’ll have far better results using our gentle, motivational ‘Think Dog’ approach.

- TAFE. Subjects including breeding, nutrition, behaviour and first aid

We are also Professional members of the Association
of Pet Dog Trainers, Australia.
